The First International Workshop on Global Information Security for an Inclusive Information Society (GloSec 2009)

Because Information Security has a global dimension and deals with a large range of issues as:

  • Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) uses or misuses;
  • Technical measures;
  • Economic, legal and political issues;

 

It is important to develop a global and interdisciplinary approach to master information related risks and threats and to propose effective information security solutions.

  • The objectives of this workshop are to:
  • Consider information security issues in a holistic and systemic approach; putting the individual at the core of the question;
  • Point out stakes, challenges and issues related to a global approach for information security and reliability in order to develop an inclusive information society;
  • Analyze and propose innovative concepts, methods and solutions to insure a high level of information security for safety of people, the protection of organizations’ assets and critical information infrastructures, when failure is not an option;
  • Present and discuss emerging know how and standards that will contribute to minimize the informational risk and bring it under control.


This workshop wishes to further stimulate a multi stakeholders’ awareness which is needed for the development of a safe information society. It will bring together experts from several fields of discipline, with different backgrounds and experiences to debate unsolved security related questions concerning citizen, organizations and States.

Topics should include, but are not limited to:

  • Interdependencies and risks;
  • Challenges and issues for globally interconnected infrastructures;
  • Prevention of, preparation for response and recovery from cyber incidents;
  • Security design, implementation and management;
  • Information security effectiveness;
  • Defence in depth;
  • Ethics;
  • Awareness;
  • Information security culture;
  • Coordination and cooperation;
  • Organizational structures;
  • Capacity building;
  • Actor’s and stakeholders responsibilities;
  • Legal measures;
  • Social, economical and political impacts of information security.

Submission Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit research and application papers following the IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Manuscripts style: two columns, single-spaced, including figures and references, using 10 fonts, and number each page. Workshop papers are classified into 1 categorizes representing original, previously unpublished work.

Submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition.
Contact author must provide the following information at the ARES web site: paper title, authors' names, affiliations, postal address, phone, fax, and e-mail address of the author(s), about 200-250 word abstract, and about five keywords.

Submission of a paper implies that should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and present the paper in the conference.

 

Publication

All accepted papers will be published as ISBN proceedings published by the IEEE Computer Society, and will be available online through IEEE Xplore (EI indexing).
